Fanta’s groundbreaking AI campaign for Beetlejuice
Fanta
The challenge
In a media landscape that is constantly changing, Fanta was looking for a truly groundbreaking campaign to promote the film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. The challenge was twofold: how do you bring the film’s playful, unpredictable atmosphere to life, and how do you do it in a technologically innovative way never seen before in Dutch outdoor advertising? The aim was to create an interactive experience that would surprise travellers and make them part of the campaign itself.
The solution
The solution was a revolutionary step into the future of digital out-of-home (DOOH), developed together with CSDM. At Amsterdam Central metro station, an interactive AI installation was set up that let travellers experience the magic for themselves. The approach was as simple as it was brilliant:
- Travellers could step in front of a camera.
- Groundbreaking AI software analysed the person and, within 30 seconds, transformed them into a completely unique, personalised character in the iconic style of Beetlejuice.
- The one-off creation appeared instantly, life-size, on a large LED wall.
- After it was shown, the image disappeared for good, making every interaction a unique and fleeting experience.
Every visual was created live on location by the AI, with no pre-made content: a first for Dutch outdoor advertising.
The result
This innovative campaign resulted in exceptionally high levels of interaction and visibility. As well as drawing participants like a magnet, the installation caught the attention of tens of thousands of daily passers-by who watched the transformations happen live. The result was very high attention value and a unique brand experience that fitted perfectly with the film’s creative, unpredictable character. Fanta positioned itself as a pioneer in tech-driven marketing and proved that the future of AI in outdoor advertising has already begun.
